The creative hub of FKAjazz: pioneering Jazztronica where traditional jazz meets electronic innovation, creating soundscapes and artistic visuals for tomorrow's stories.
“PRELUDE TO DESCENT” - PHASE 1, THE ALBUM RELEASE
About the Artist
FKAjazz (Samir Zarif) is a New York–based, Grammy-nominated saxophonist, producer, DJ, and creator of the emerging “Jazztronica” sound. Through OMGjazz, he blends live performance, electronic production, and immersive storytelling, building sonic and narrative worlds that bridge music, art, and futurist imagination. His work pushes jazz into new territory, merging improvisation, electronic textures, and cinematic narrative into a unified creative vision.
Artist Intention
A reflection on the contemporary struggle between individual freedom and institutional control. Through its innovative fusion of jazz and electronic elements, the album creates an immersive soundscape exploring themes of resistance, technological authoritarianism, and the preservation of human autonomy.
Set against FKAjazz's signature "jazztronica" sound, each track blends traditional jazz improvisation with futuristic electronic textures, mirroring the tension between human expression and systemic control. The music serves as both a warning and a call to action, addressing anxieties around surveillance, corporate power, and the erosion of human dignity.
As the first installment of The TV Box Saga, the album lays a narrative foundation of courage, resistance, and individual choice against overwhelming pressure. Building on the world introduced in "Fearless: An OMGjazz Ninja Saga," this release pushes the boundaries of genre and storytelling, creating an afrofuturist meditation on freedom in an increasingly complex world. With Sachcoo’s visual art complementing the sonic experience, "Prelude to Descent" invites listeners to question their relationship with technology, authority, and their own capacity for resistance.

There is a continued evolution of Jazztronica through the work of Grammy-nominated and Billboard-charting saxophonist, producer, and storyteller FKAjazz. His latest release, “Prelude to Descent,” marks an important moment in the growth of this emerging movement, which blends the improvisational foundations of jazz with the expanding possibilities of electronic sound and multimedia art.
Jazz has always been defined by its drive toward innovation. Today, Jazztronica carries that spirit into a new era. Through OMGjazz, the creative hub co-founded by FKAjazz and visual and soundscape artist Sachcoo, the movement is being shaped into a cohesive cultural experience. Their approach treats sound, technology, and visual art as an integrated practice. It honors jazz’s legacy of freedom and experimentation while extending it into new creative territory.
Before stepping into the public eye as FKAjazz, Samir Zarif had already established himself as an exceptional musician. Born and raised in Houston, he recorded and performed with artists including Nicholas Payton, Jill Scott, DJ Jazzy Jay, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, and Miguel Zenón. His playing has long been recognized for its individuality, technical command, and emotional clarity. That world-class foundation on the saxophone grounds his work in Jazztronica and gives it a depth that resonates across audiences and mediums.
Building a Culture of JAZZTRONICA
A Letter from OMGjazz founder, FKAjazz
Grammy-nominated saxophonist, producer, and DJ FKAjazz, together with soundscape artist, visual creator, and DJ Sachcoo, are shaping a bold new future for music and culture. At OMGjazz, we’re not just blending jazz and electronica—we’re building jazztronica into a living, breathing movement that connects sound, art, and storytelling.
Our mission is to channel the spirit of freedom and experimentation that powered the free jazz movement of the 1950s and 1960s, and reimagine it for today’s world. Through immersive performances, original compositions, and multimedia experiences, we weave improvisation and innovation, bridging the past and the future. For us, technology is more than a tool—it’s a gateway. A gateway to new sonic landscapes, to deeper forms of expression, and to storytelling that resonates across cultures. By embracing it, we honor our roots while pushing the boundaries of what contemporary music and art can become.
This is more than music. This is Jazztronica culture—a space where community, creativity, and exploration meet.
