Welcome to OMGjazz: Where Music, Art & Storytelling collide
Building a Culture of Afrofuturism
A Letter from OMGjazz founder, FKAjazz
Through music and art, we are building a culture of Afrofuturism—not in a clichéd way, but through authentic expression. We are people of the African diaspora (Black Americans, African Americans, and people of African descent throughout the world) and allies of the Black experience. Through the fusion of jazz and electronic music (jazztronica), OMGjazz creates forward-thinking, innovative music, art and immersive experiences that embodies the same spirit of freedom and exploration that defined the free jazz movement of the 1950s and 1960s.
Our performances and compositions draw from this rich heritage while incorporating modern electronic elements, creating a bridge between past and future. We see technology not just as a tool, but as a means of expanding the possibilities of musical expression and cultural storytelling. Through this lens, we're able to honor our roots while pushing the boundaries of what's possible in contemporary music and art. - FKAjazz
NEW PROJECT: “Prelude to Descent” - TV Box Saga, PART 1
Download the latest single - “DayDreaming” feat. James quinlan & Tommy Hartman.
"Daydreaming," the inaugural single from the forthcoming album "Prelude to Descent," plunges listeners into a dystopian fantasy where individuals are tragically transformed, their heads replaced with television screens. This chilling concept, reminiscent of the unsettling narratives explored in the Netflix series "Black Mirror," serves as a poignant commentary on the insidious grip of technology, highlighting the dangers of unchecked surveillance and the control exerted by our ever-present devices.
"Daydreaming," a captivating blend of jazz and electronica, is a collaborative effort masterfully produced, performed, and recorded by FKAjazz. This Radiohead cover was first performed by FKAjazz’s band Humankindition back in 2016 and features the original members. With the dynamic drumming of Tommy Hartman and the resonant synth bass contributions of James Quinlan this cover creates a sonic tapestry that is both mesmerizing and unsettling.
"Prelude to Descent" weaves a cautionary tale enveloped in a fantastical universe, urging listeners to be ever-critical of their relationship with technology and the potential consequences of an unchecked digital existence. By immersing themselves in this sonic journey, listeners are invited to confront the anxieties of a hyper-connected world fraught with veils of deception.
"Daydreaming" serves as a powerful introduction to this thought-provoking album. We invite listeners to become direct supporters of OMGjazz by downloading the single today. Starting January 10th, "Daydreaming" will also be available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms, making this poignant exploration of technology and its impact accessible to a wider audience.
In signature OMGjazz style, FKAjazz and Sachcoo weave together art, music, and storytelling through another upcoming album and audiobook releasing throughout 2025.
"Prelude to Descent" is part one of a three-part series launching in 2025. Excitingly, we’re introducing a new collection of characters to the OMGjazz Multiverse. More on that later.
MORE DETAILS: The journey begins January 10th, 2025, with the release of "Daydreaming"—a single inspired by the 2016 Radiohead song of the same name. FKAjazz showcases a genre he's been crafting: a fusion of jazz and electronica that creates a fresh style of songwriting yet to break into the mainstream. This innovative underground sound, dubbed "Jazztronica," perfectly complements the high-stakes drama of the story, also penned by FKAjazz.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT: The audiobook enters production in early 2025. Support this project by engaging with OMGjazz in several ways: stream our existing music and audiobook, purchase our merchandise, download our music, or collect our art pieces.
